earth day ~ and lime green t~shirts

i’m surrounded by sounds. the slight snore of my pug. yes, ralphie, my sister’s dog who came to live with me when my sister's life prevented her from providing the home she needed. this coincided when i was looking to fill my life with another living, breathing being. do you know that movie with sandra bullock? where she enters rehab and they encourage you to not enter into a relationship until 1) you can take care of a plant without killing it, and 2) care for an animal without killing it also? well, i’m onto the animal part in my life. i didn’t kill my girls and they’re thriving in life. but, until i figure out ME, i just don’t think there should be an US anywhere. recovery is like that i think.
the other sound is of my best friend’s sweet three year old chattering away as she plays with her dolls. it’s good friday and her daycare is closed. her mom HAS to work so i get her to myself all day. what fun. so far we’ve figured out we both LOVE lime green because that’s the color of my PJ’s and the color of her t~shirt that she is wearing. she’s also informed me that she’s not “into sesame street, i’m all about the earth.” i swear these where her exact words. out of the mouth of babes. ironically enough, today is also, earth day.
i began my earth day with cleaning up my garbage that some stray animal got into. about earth day. say what you want about everything that is happening around you, i choose to keep things simple. but i’m trying to educate myself about things that i kept a blind eye to for quite some time. maybe because i’m not medicating myself with food i have a bit more time to find out what’s really important. like the state of our county (lord that’s another whole blog) good nutrition, less TV, snoring pugs, and little girls in lime green t~shirts. btw, she and i are going to bake cupcakes and make an eggface cake for her mom today, aaaaah simplicity = bliss. xxoo~nicole

the cake we will bake for my friend (her favorite) is the perfect protein cake that takes all of 5 mins to make….
