girls, girls, girls....

so, the three most important people to me in my life are my girls. this is a photo i took of them, on the beach, not far from my home. it was BEFORE surgery. part of WHY i had surgery. see that sweet baby, that's gwendolyn. my grandbaby. she's five now. she loves to dance. sing. read books. and bake with me. maybe i wouldn't be here today without my life altering surgery, who knows? but, i get to see her when her mom can make the trip home, or i make the trip north. see the two smiling girls? they're mine. well, not REALLY mine, but, lent to me to love. and love them i do. i'm not perfect as their mom. (and they have MANY stories to let you know that!) but, we are family. all girls. all beautiful. each bringing something wonderful, unique, and fun to the table we share in life. i'm blessed. you'll hear me post that often. i began my blog yesterday. i realize i did it on the day of my father's birth. he was an icon in my life. it was the first birthday he didn't share here on this earth. i can't believe it, but i survived the day. my sister sent me a text message the night before, "look at the moon, dad's looking down on us." my dad, icon. my dad, teacher. my dad, strong. my dad, honest. listen to the song by dan fogelburg, "leader of the band", it's about my dad. i am his legacy. so are those three girls in the picture. xxoo~nicole
